How do I find a friend by username?

Before you start

• The other player has a username and is discoverable. Players without a username, or with discoverability switched off, never turn up.
• You have their personal link code. They find it on their Profile or under their name on Club; the search result does not show it.
• You are online. Searching and adding go through the server.

Search and add

1. Open Club → Friends and tap Find by username. Find a player opens.
2. Type the start of the username under Username (at least 3 characters) and tap Search. With fewer than 3 characters Search stays greyed out.
3. Each result shows the username and the player's name, with Choose. Tap the right player.
4. The add panel asks: Ask the player for their link code. This proves their consent. Name is filled in with the name of their account; change it if you like.
5. Type their code under Link code and tap Add as linked contact. Linked contact added. confirms it.

What you get

• A new friend, linked straight away, with Linked to an account and their username in your list. You appear in their friends list too.
• Games you record together from now on reach their own history.
• No second entry for the same player. If a friend with the name under Name is still Only with you, the app asks first, for example You already have a friend called Sam. Link that friend with this code, so earlier games count too? Choose Link Sam to link that friend, or Add as a new friend when it is somebody else. If the player is already linked to one of your friends, the panel says so instead of adding them again.

If it does not work

• No discoverable players found. The username is spelled differently, the player has no username, or discoverability is off. A search matches from the start of the username; display names and email addresses are not searched.
• This link code is unknown or has been revoked. A wrong code, or the player rotated it. Ask for the current one.
• Add as linked contact stays greyed out. The Link code field is still empty.
• I cannot find myself. Your own account never appears in the results.
• The player is sitting next to you. A username is not needed: Scan a code at the top of the app with their personal QR adds them as a linked friend in one step.
